Traverse City Central High School is proud to announce the hiring of Mary Olson as the new head coach for the varsity girls' soccer program. Olson, a former Division I athlete, brings three years of experience as an assistant coach at Central and previously served as an assistant at her alma mater, Waubonsie Valley.
"We are excited to officially add Coach Olson to our staff," said Central High School Athletic Director Justin Thorington. "Her experience playing at a high level, combined with her dedication to developing young women into champions both on and off the field, will be incredibly valuable for our program and our athletes."
A four-year starter for St. Louis University, Olson's playing background provides a valuable perspective that will benefit the Traverse City Central Trojans. Beyond her coaching experience, Olson is also a social worker for Northwest Ed (ISD), bringing a unique skillset to the position focused on community and student well-being.
"I am honored to step into this role and continue to build on the strong foundation of our program," said Coach Olson. "Having been a part of this team for the past three years, I'm excited to lead such a hardworking and talented group of girls. I've seen firsthand their dedication and passion, and I look forward to helping them grow both on and off the field."
