Traverse City Central High School is proud to announce the hiring of Chris Hines as the new Varsity Boys Golf Head Coach. Hines brings a passion for the game and a commitment to character development that aligns with the Trojan athletic tradition.

Hines was selected for his strong belief in the school’s positive culture and his dedication to teaching life lessons through the sport of golf.

"I want to coach at Traverse City Central because of the family atmosphere I feel every time I walk in the building," Hines said. "It is a positive environment, and I know I can be a coach that carries on that tradition. I love golf and am looking forward to passing on the knowledge and passion for the game to the student athletes at Traverse City Central."

Hines has an established background in golf instruction and coaching. He previously served as the head boys golf coach at Elk Rapids High School for two years, following several seasons as a volunteer assistant. He is also a certified coach for First Tee, an organization that teaches youth ages 7 to 17 the game of golf through character development using core values such as Respect and Confidence. Hines holds an Associate’s Degree in Professional Golf Management.

Under his leadership, Hines has a clear vision for what the Trojan golf program will represent.

"I hope Trojan golf will be known for a team that plays the right way," Hines stated. "Golf is a game of integrity because you keep your own score and call penalties on yourself. We will be known for playing the game of golf with integrity, respect, and with the utmost sportsmanship. Through these values, we will create a process that fuels a successful golf program."
