On Saturday, Trojan Varsity volleyball played undefeated all day only to fall short of winning the championship match by a few points to Traverse City St. Francis. TCC beat Grayling, Pine River, Saginaw Heritage, Pine River (again), and Leland to make it to the final match of the day. St Francis took an early lead on the Trojans for the first match and never looked back beating them 25-18. Central took the second game in a nail biter with a score of 26-24. The third game went point for point until the Gladiators sealed their fate beating the Trojans 15-12. Senior captain, Maggie McCrary lead her team in kills and aces with 56 and 17 respectively. She also had an impressive .515 hitting percentage during the day. Her success couldn’t have been possible without setter Annie Hunt who dished out 146 assists. Emma Turnquist brought home 31 kills and 5 blocks. While Olivia Fiebing lead the team with 54 digs. The team will continue to drive forward looking to conquer their next opponent, Petoskey on September 18th at home.
