Here are the Trojan Bowling Conference Results for 2021 from Coach Vreeland:
2021 Conference Team Tournament: This one was just for bragging rights for the day and one more chance to bowl as teams. Our varsity team, including Brad Earnest, Tyler McNalley, Ondrea Ream, Alex Szajner (making his varsity debut!) and Brian Wilkinson won the 6 Baker Game tournament with a total score of 1,115! Individual games were 181, 161, 223, 179, 193, and 178...a pretty good set and that 223 is fabulous! Nice work, gentlemen!
2021 Conference Singles Tournament: The top 10 finishers in each gender won additional points towards the year long rankings and contest to make Dream Team and the All-Conference Teams.
Ladies: Ondrea Ream finished 2nd and added 35 more points to her season standings. She shot 176, 203, 147, 177, 175 and 170 for a 1,049 6 game total, only 57 pins out of first. Abby Hill shot a 681 series, which is a little over her season average. Rowan Bura shot 567, with only 1 game under her average and was about 12 pins over average for the day, which is a pretty good margin!
Gentlemen: Brian Wilkinson finished 4th and added 25 points to his season standings. He shot a total of 1,083 pins (202, 179, 160, 153, 171, 218). Paco Haas finished 6th with a 1,071 series (165, 114, 232, 201, 126, 233) Three games over 200 is a good start towards what needs to happen at regionals! Special congratulations go to Alex Szajner who came out strong in the first game and shot a new personal record 232!
2021 Conference Awards:
Ladies:
Congratulations to Ondrea Ream for finishing third overall in the conference and earning her spot on Dream Team back! She averaged 169 this season, just 8 pins of average off the first place finisher. She won 10 of her 14 head-to-head matchups, her high game was a 214, and her high 2 game series was a 404.
Congratulations also to Abby Hill who was named to the Division 1/2 All-Conference Team. Abby is completely new to competitive bowling, and in 11 weeks has worked her way up to a 113 average, a high game of 160, and a high series of 276! She finished 23rd over all in the conference and 8th in Division 1/2. What a great start to her bowling career!
Gentlemen:
Congratulations to Brian Wilkinson, who finished 4th overall in the conference (Dream Team!) and third in Division 1/2. He won 10 of his 14 matchups, averaged 189, and had a high series of 444. His high game of 253 earned him a medal for high boys' game of the season!
Congratulations to Paco Haas, who finished 5th overall in the conference (Dream Team!) and 4th in Division 1/2. He also won 10 of his 14 matchups, averaged 176, had a high game of 214 and a high series of 415. Paco was a standout bowler for many years in the youth league, and we were disappointed when he took a few years off right as he was entering high school. We are SO GLAD you came back, Paco!
Congratulations to Tyler Stoessel, who finished 8th in the conference overall and 6th in Division 1/2, earning a spot on the All-Conference Team! Tyler has been one of our steadiest high performers this season. He won 10 of his individual matches, averaged 166, had a high competition game of 224 and high series of 379.
Congratulations to Brad Earnest, who finished 14th in the conference and 9th in Division 1/2, earning a spot on the All-Conference Team! Brad also won 10 of his 14 matchups, averaged 156, had a high game of 243 and a high series of 422. Not a bad way to finish his conference career!
And, congratulations to rookies Danek and Alex Szajner. They won medals for winning the most individual matchups in the conference at 13 out of 14! Great way to start your careers!
Plus our varsity boys finished second in Division 1/2 with a 6-1 record, the best overall win-loss record in the conference. The only reason we didn't win the conference was that we went 1-2 in our division, although we came very, very close. Next year....
Our JV boys finished with a perfect 7-0 record, the best JV boys' win/loss record in the conference!
Our Varsity ladies went 2-5 which is actually pretty good considering that they were bowling with only 2 or 3 ladies and most other teams had more complete squads. We need to get a few ladies who didn't return this year back next year and recruit a few more!
Overall, it's been a pretty amazing season. I'm eager to see what we can do at regionals and how we can continue to build the program next season!
