Trojan Hockey Tryout Information for 2020-21
Updated on 06/10/2022
The MHSAA Hockey season officially begins on Monday, November 2nd. Here is some information regarding Hockey Tryouts for Traverse City Central from Coach Givens:
- All players must be signed up for tryouts via FinalForms (traversecity-mi.finalforms.com)
- If your player had a valid physical form on file for the 2019-20 school year a new physical form is not required. However, all players must have a completed Health Questionnaire on file in the athletic office.
- Players will enter and exit Howe Arena using the doors on the Southeast corner of the building. Entry/exit will not be permitted using the main entrance to the Grand Traverse County Civic Center. This is to avoid mixing foot traffic with those using the YMCA workout facilities.
- Access to locker rooms will be no earlier than 5:20am each day. We will be using locker rooms B, C, D, and E. There will be a limit of 8 players per locker room.
- Full equipment is required, including mouth guards and neck guards, and there is a new requirement this season for face coverings. See below.
- Face coverings are required to enter the building and while in the building for the tryout sessions. This includes in the locker rooms and while on the ice/player benches.
- If your player is wearing a bubble/fish bowl full shield it will also need to have the splash guards attached or a separate face covering will need to be worn underneath. This type of mask, on its own without the splash guard, does not satisfy the face covering requirement.
PLEASE NOTE: There are no provisions in the new HHS guidance for medical intolerance reasons or medical waivers. This is not an MHSAA regulation so they (MHSAA) have no legal authority to waive or modify the HHS guideline.
- Tryout sessions will be from 6:00-7:00am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. (November 2 – 5). Players are asked to exit Howe Arena as quickly as possible following the completion of each tryout session.
- Players selected for the 2020-21 final roster will have their first team practice on Friday, November 6 from 5:30pm to 6:20pm.
